Sean McConnell has served in the Episcopal Church as a lay professional since 2000 when he became Program Producer at GraceCom, the media ministry of San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral. In 2006, he was named Canon for Communications in the Diocese of California. Sean has served on the Board of Directors of Episcopal Communicators; as Chair of the Standing Commission on Episcopal Church Communications and Information Technology; and as Technology Coordinator for the House of Deputies of The Episcopal Church.
Since May of 2013, Sean has served as Director of Engagement for Episcopal Relief & Development. In 2014, Sean and the Rev. Canon Mark Stevenson created Called To Transformation: An Asset-Based Approach to Engaging Church & Community with assistance from the Beecken Center at the School of Theology at Sewanee, The University of the South. Since then, Sean has been leading and co-leading Asset-Based Community Development workshops and trainings across The Episcopal Church. In 2021, Sean became a member of the ABCD & Faith Working Group of the Asset-Based Community Development Institute based at DePaul University.
