We are pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Timothy Mulder will be joining Christ Church as a Priest Affiliate. In this role, Rev. Tim will contribute to the life of our parish by leading select faith formation programs throughout the year. Additionally, he will preach on occasion, provide pastoral care support, and serve alongside the Rev. Bowie Snodgrass and the Rev. Paul Keene on various Sundays. 

We look forward to welcoming Rev. Tim back to our community and are grateful for the gifts and experience he brings to Christ Church.

The Rev. Dr. Timothy Mulder, now retired, served as rector of Christ Church from 2010 to 2018. During his tenure, the church building, windows, and organ were restored, and Christ Church played a key role in founding Newark Shared Ministries (NSM). Through NSM, the parish partnered with other churches and Rutgers Medical School to provide health care for Apostles’ House residents and helped establish All The Way Up, an adult learning center offering GED, English classes, and career counseling. Tim also strengthened Christ Church’s connection with the Diocese of Newark, fostering a vision of ministry beyond our parish walls.

Tim’s pastoral career includes 20 years as Associate Professor of Worship, Preaching, and Arts and Director of the Chapel at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He has taught at General Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary and served as Executive Director of the Episcopal Preaching Foundation. He contributed to forming the Iona Collaboration, a non-residential program for training Episcopal preachers.

In retirement, Tim continues to assist the Bishop of Newark as needed in churches throughout the state. He loves cooking for friends and playing golf with his wife, Linda.
