The Rev. George E. Dredden III


Fr. George Dredden is the former Priest-In-Charge at Trinity & St. Philip’s Cathedral in the Diocese of Newark. Ordained a priest in June of 2022, George’s home church was St. Peter’s in Mt. Lakes, and his Supervised Ministry assignment was at St. Paul’s Church in Chatham.   


Prior to ordination, Fr. George served as Chief of Staff for NJ Assemblywoman and Deputy Republican Leader BettyLou DeCroce. Previously, George also served as Chief of Staff for the Deputy Commissioner at the NJ Department of Community Services. 


His prior government experience includes – Deputy Clerk of the NJ General Assembly; Chief of Staff/Deputy County Administrator/ Chief Administrative Officer for the Essex County NJ Government; Human Resources Director/ Police Officer for the City of Rockville, Md.  George also served on the Board of Adjustment and Traffic Advisory Committee for the Township of Parsippany, NJ.


Fr. George’s private sector experience includes Prudential Insurance Company of America’s Manager of Community Resources and Program Officer for the Prudential Foundation; Regional Manager for Kaiser Permanente’s Northeast Regional Office spanning Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.  In addition, George has operated a consultancy specializing in public and community affairs, government relations and small business management issues.


He received his M.A. in Divinity from the Drew Theological School in Madison, NJ, his B.A. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland; and attended the Antioch School of Law in Washington, DC. 


Fr. George is currently a Commissioner for the Morris County Crime Stoppers, and former member of the County College of Morris Board of Trustees. 


Fr. George’s diocesan activities include  Co-Chair Commission on Justice, Peace & Racial Reconciliation; Vice President, Union of Black Episcopalians, Newark Chapter;  Member, Anti-Sexism Task Force; Delegate to the Episcopal National Convention; Member, Newark NJ Interfaith Alliance; and former Trustee for Crossroads Camp & Retreat Center.


Fr. George lives in Parsippany, New Jersey, and has two adult children.
